Walsall Tag Rugby Finals

Congratulations to Old Church Primary from the Darlaston Family who retained their title of Walsall Tag Rugby Champions. The competition was stronger this year than in 2007-2008 but Old Church showed their tactical prowess  and great organisation to win the title. They will represent Walsall in the Staffordshire Tag Rugby Finals .

Sportshall Athletics Walsall Finals

The finals took place at Shelfield on 27th November at 4pm. The top two schools from each Partnership were competing to decide the Walsall Champions but another prize on offer was to represent their Partnership in the Black Country Sportshall Finals in January.

Year 2 Multi-Skills Competition

Congratulations to Rosedale Infants School who won the first Walsall Year 2 Multi-Skills competition held at Frank F Harrison Secondary School on 6th November.

The competition was the result of a CPD opportunity delivered by Louise Griffiths - the Walsall Competition Manager - in September.
Staff who attended this INSET were encouraged to go back into their own schools and use the multi-skills activities in their class's PE lessons and to record the scores. Louise collected all the scores in at the end of October and the top eight schools were invited to attend this Walsall Finals.

Schools brought Year 2 pupils in teams of ten and they competed in their own school group in eight different activities based on the FUNdamental skills of Agility, Balance and Co-ordination (A,B,C)
The activities were run by 6th form students from Franks F Harrison, two Year 7 Sports Leaders also from Frank F Harrison, and the Young Ambassadors from Shelfield Sports Partnership.
There were many parents in attendance and everyone present had a great time.

At the end of the afternoon the results were collated and read out as follows:

1st = Rosedale Infants                608
2nd = Pinfold Street                   600
3rd = Whetstone Field               590
4th = Meadow View                   568
5th = Millfield                             534
6th = New Invention Infants     531

Congratulations to Rosedale who can be seen below with their trophy. Well done to all other schools and the parents and school staff who got the children to Frank F and supported them in such a positive manner.

Congratulations to Rosedale Year2!!!

Hi Five Netball Competitions

All usual the first Walsall Sports Partnership competition of the year was High Five netball. Schools played competitions in their families with the winners going through to the Partnership Finals.

Eleven primary schools participated across the Partnership with competitions at Willenhall, St Thomas More, Darlaston and Frank F Harrison. The winning schools from each Family were:

Barcroft
Bentley West
Fibbersley Park
St Joseph's
Blakenhall Heath

Unfortunately Blakenhall Heath were unable to take their place in the Partnership Finals so the festival was decided between 4 teams.
Games were played to the correct AENA High-Five format of four timed quarters with rotations taking place after each quarter.

The winner was BARCROFT
Runner-up was  FIBBERSLEY PARK

Thanks to Nicky Briers and her Sports Leaders from Pool Hayes for their help with the competition

Walsall High Five Finals

As Partnership Winners Barcroft were asked to represent Willenhall Sports Partnership in the Walsall Finals held at Shelfield Sports College.

They were to play against St James from Brownhills and Manor Primary from Streetly. Unfortunately Manor Primary were unable to attend so it was a straight match between St James and Barcroft to decide the winning side.

After the first match the scores were level so the schools played a further twenty minute game in which St James edged ahead and were able to hold onto their advantage.

The games were very close and played with great respect from both sides - both pupils, staff and parents.
